Hello,
the new version 7.0.1 of PDFsam Visual is out. This is a major update with two new tools, a refreshed engine and a long list of fixes.

Clean PDF pages and edit metadata

We added Clean PDF, a new task that removes metadata, XMP metadata and annotations from your PDF files in bulk. It’s a quick way to strip out information you don’t want to share before sending a document out.

Alongside it, a new Edit metadata task lets you modify a document’s properties, such as title and author, directly from the app.

Under the hood

This release upgrades Electron and all its dependencies, drops support for 32-bit Windows and moves to JDK 25. The PDF engine has been updated to its latest major version, bringing better PDF 2.0 support with correct UTF-8 encoded strings, and more robust handling of problematic PDF files like malformed annotations, invalid color spaces, broken font dictionaries and corrupted metadata are now handled more gracefully instead of causing a failure.

Bug fixes

We fixed a few merge issues, including incorrect font size rescaling in the table of contents, and a hang that could occur when processing PDFs with certain bookmark structures. We also fixed a page deletion failure that happened when a PDF was missing the `/Kids` attribute, and hardened the parser against oversized or malformed xref streams.

As usual the major upgrade is free for all the yearly subscriptions (licenses starting with PVS-) and perpetual licenses valid for version 7.x (starting with PV7-).
Enjoy!
